1/7/11 NA Trading and Technology Holiday Party This year the
NATT holiday party took place on Friday January 7th, 2011. We celebrated at Timberlodge Steakhouse,
not too far from our location in
6/2/10 The Maiden Voyage of the New Grill! We kicked off summer with a brand new grill and a lunch BBQ in the parking lot! Here are some pictures from the event:
4/5/10 NATT Easter Egg Hunt! The 12th annual
NA Trading and Technology Easter Egg Hunt took place Thursday, April
1st. The building opened at 7am, but the most competitive
egg-hunters were poking around outside by 6:00.
Approximately 160
eggs were hidden and there were 6 teams to find them all. Each team attacked the egg hunt with a
slightly different strategy. Some
teams split up, sending each team member to a different area of the building and
then coming back together periodically to see how they’re doing. Some teams stick together and take their
time to thoroughly investigate each room.
Some teams even try to persuade other teams to join forces and pool all
their eggs together, in hopes of taking down the leading team.
The most
sought-after eggs are the ones that contain money. And therefore, the eggs
with the five, ten, and twenty dollar bills were the hardest to find. After a couple clues from management
that the front lobby was a “hot spot”, nearly everyone was taking a part cube
walls and trying to remove the legs
from a couple of chairs. However,
it was Mo and Amy who didn’t waste any time and went straight for the two light
switches in the room. Using
screwdrivers, they removed the covers and both of them, yes, BOTH Amy and
Mo found money eggs! Amy found the
$20 egg, and Mo was pretty happy with finding the $5 egg.
Amy must have
been having a lucky day, because she also found the $10 egg! In a brutal fight with Megan in the
warehouse, Amy finally got to the egg which was tucked neatly in a corner of
pallet. Megan and her partner Erica
were pretty disappointed.
Some of the most fun and memorable moments of the hunt didn’t even involve money eggs, but just had to do with the excitement over finding the candy-filled eggs. Check out the pictures:
Maria getting ready to tip the bookcase / Mike and Dave searching by the water cooler.
Dave and Megan out in the courtyard....you have to crawl out a window to get out there / A bit of a brawl in the ladies restroom between Amy and Mike
Ted and Jason overseeing and possibly giving a hint here and there / Mike, Dave, Mo, and Maria determined to get an egg worth DOUBLE out of that chair!
Half Time - everyone count your eggs!
My FAVORITE picture of Megan! (I don't think she was very happy to have to crawl in and out of that little window) :-)
Pete and Christine in the background....wondering if they found enough eggs to make into the Top #3! Sophia looks pretty confident though! / Megan sorting her and Erica's eggs.

So who won the 2010 NATT Easter Egg Hunt? Mo and Maria were the official winners with 44 eggs! They received an Applebee's gift card so they can go out to lunch and enjoy their victory! The 2nd place winners with Mike and Dave with 42 eggs, in 3rd place was Erica and Megan with 22 eggs. 4th place was a tie between Sophia and Jeremy and Pete and Christine; each team ended with 17 eggs. And Amy and Anna came in 5th with 14 eggs.
It was another successful Easter Egg Hunt at NA Trading and Technology!

2/15/10 2nd Annual Crock-Pot Cook Off!
In 2009, the first ever NA Trading and Technology Crock-Pot Cook Off was a huge success! In 2010 there were even more tasty soups, dips, and even desserts! The menu included: Beef Stew, Cocktail Weenies, Oriental Beef Hot Dish, Baked Beans, Meatballs, Queso dip, Spinach Artichoke dip, Sloppy Joes, Apple Cobbler, and White Rice. After everyone tried a little of everything the voting began! Erica had announced the votes would be counted and the winner revealed at 3:00pm, however Megan swooped in about ten minutes early, stole Erica's thunder, and started counting the votes herself! A catfight broke out in the bathroom (well, kind of), and for the rest of the day, Megan's nickname (among others) was officially "Thunder Stealer". In the end, Erica announced the winner to the company and presented the bottle of wine to the 2010 Crock-Pot Champion! So who's dish won? It was nearly a tie between Deb's Oriental Beef Hot Dish and Brian's Amazing Meatballs, but it was Brian who won the tie-breaker and is now the NATT Champion for Crock-Pot Cooking! Congratulations Brian! 1/11/10 NA Trading and Technology Holiday Party The annual NATT Holiday Party was held on Friday, January 8th. We switched locations this year to the newly renovated Sports Page. Right after work, everyone headed over for food, drinks, and an overall GREAT time! We celebrated the holiday season and a great end to 2009. Here's to another great year at NA Trading and Technology! Check out pictures from the party in the Photo Gallery.
11/2/09 Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest! 2009 was another successful year for the annual NA Trading and Technology pumpkin carving contest. Pumpkins were brought in at the beginning of the week, and the only rule was that pumpkins must be completed by lunch time on Friday. Some people took their pumpkin home this year, to work on it in secret, while others spent their lunch time and breaks througout the week coming up with the perfect design! Check out the pictures of our most creative pumpkins!
9/24/09 Tailgate Lunch Party! The employees of NA Trading and Technology kicked off football season on Friday with a Tailgate lunch party. Many people showed their team sprit for the Minnesota Vikings, but the Greenbay Packers, the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, and even vintage Virginia Tech were represented. Deb and Erica wheeled the grill out to the front parking lot and fired it up around 11:30. By noon you could smell the burgers and brats from the inside of the building, and many people were getting anxious for lunch and couple tailgate activities! With the meat cooking on the grill, everyone else started to bring their food out. Ted tried a recipe from one of his customers - jalepeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in pepper bacon. They were very hot, but they were a hit! The rest of our tailgate menu consisted of coleslaw, pasta salad, veggies and dip, deviled eggs, chips, and even Girl Scout cookies! When people were done eating, we brought out the "Bags" game and threw around a football. As you can see below, on one side of the game Ted and Megan focus on throwing, while their teammates, Dave and Pete watch intently. The guys tossed the football around as the tailgate party ended, and Megan proudly showed off her Iowa shirt (which Erica kindly provided for her), by the way - that is ROOT BEER in her hand! It was another successful parking lot lunch for NATT! Check photos from the event HERE. The next company activity is the Halloween celebration; check back in a month for pictures from the pumpkin carving contest!
6/30/09 Jason's 15th Anniversary and Parking Lot BBQ
On Thursday, June 25th, we celebrated Jason Thomas' (Product Manager) 15th anniversary with NA Trading and Technology. The mini party in the break room included all NATT employees and a Dairy Queen ice cream cake, which was an appropriate dessert for the abnormally hot 90 degree weather outside. Congratulations Jason! The following day wasn't quite as hot in the twin cities, and the employees of NA Trading and Technology celebrated the nice weather with a parking lot BBQ and potluck. Pasta salad, chips, watermelon, and brownies were just a few of the items that were brought in, and we fired up the grill with kabobs and hamburgers. Deb and Erica got the grill going in the morning and everyone else came out for lunch around noon to enjoy the sunshine and good food! Check out the photo gallery!
We had such a good time at the Parking Lot BBQ, we're already planning another one for this fall! Check back often for more company event news from NA Trading and Technology!

The 11th annual NA Trading and Technology Easter Egg Hunt took place Friday, April 10th. The building opened at 7am, but the most competitive egg-hunters were poking around outside even earlier.
With over 150 eggs hidden, the hunt was more intense than ever. Each team of two could be found rummaging through filing cabinets, packing peanuts, display products, and even the company refrigerator, all searching for the same thing - Easter Eggs!
The most coveted eggs are the ones that contain money. And therefore, the eggs with the five, ten, and twenty dollar bills were the hardest to find. Erica found the creatively placed five dollar egg in resealed Folgers coffee bag. Yes, management thought it would be funny to open a bag of coffee grounds, place a small egg inside, and then carefully reseal it. Nearly everyone had searched through the coffee before Erica found the egg, but no one thought to actually feel each bag. A hint from Jason tipped Erica off and she began quickly reaching for each coffee bag to see if a precious egg might be hidden inside. It only took her a few seconds to find the bag with the egg, and she ripped it open and retrieved her five-dollar bill. She was thrilled! The ten dollar egg was found hidden in one of the warehouse computers. Both Mike's knew it was there (after a few hints from management), but it was Mike N. who nabbed the egg - and the ten bucks! Brian found the most strategically placed twenty dollar egg. It took several hints to lead him to the paper next to the main copier in the sales area, but he eventually found the egg in a small hole that had been drilled out of the middle of a ream of paper. Yes, that's right - management took a packaged ream of paper, carefully unwrapped it, drilled a hole in the center of one-third of the ream, placed the egg inside, and covered the top and bottom of it with the rest of the ream of paper. They repackaged the ream and placed it back in the box next to the copier. Earlier in the morning that same box had been opened and the reams removed by probably every participant in the egg hunt, looking for eggs in the box. No one had ever thought to open the reams of paper. Way-to-to Brian! Other egg locations included the refrigerator and freezer, buried in the dirt of a potted plant, and taped underneath counter-tops and behind drawers. An egg was even found in plain view on a pallet in the warehouse - however a little detour through the packing peanuts was necessary to get to this egg. Check out the photo gallery to see Amy and Andrew sifting through packing peanuts - all for one little easter egg. With their intense strategy (which some called trickery), Erica and Megan thought they had sealed the deal when the hunt came to a close and they ended up with 42 eggs. However, Amy and Mo came in ahead of them by just one egg! Amy and Mo won their first NATT Egg Hunt with a total of 43 eggs, and they felt very proud to have defeated the two-time champion team- Dave and Mike N. Now Amy and Mo can use their gift card to celebrate their victory together at Applebee's. The 2009 Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success!
1/14/09 - Annual Holiday Party! On Friday, January 9th at 5pm, the employees of NA Trading and Technology put their party shoes on and headed over to David Fong's for the annual holiday party. With good drinks, a feast of excellent food, and great company, we celebrated the holiday season and the New Year. We remembered 2008 and toasted to 2009! Check out pictures of the fantastic party in our photo gallery ! 1/7/09 - NA Trading and Technology GOES GREEN! It's the first full week of the New Year, and at NA Trading and Technology we're making one collective New Years Resolution - to make our company more GREEN. With the launch of our new recycling program in the second half of 2008, we were proud to add a variety of products we accept for recycling. In 2009 we will continue to add to list of recyclable products, and we hope that customers continue to take advantage of this important progam. See the full list here: Recycling Program In 2009, we will also be making the switch to biodegradable packing peanuts. This new packing material is 100% organic and can be dissolved in water for easy disposal. Shipments going out in early 2009 will include an informative insert about these new environmentally-friendly packing peanuts. We are bringing the "green" feeling into our office as well. We've added more recycling bins for paper and aluminum and are starting to use recycled paper in certain applications. If your company is also making an effort to go green, share your ideas with your product specialist! Think green with NA Trading and Technology, and save some green at the same time!
11/3/08 - Halloween Week at NA Trading and Technology
Last Friday was Halloween, and here at NA Trading and Technology, we didn't just dress up, we celebrated all week long! Food, costumes, pumpkins, and contests were all part of the festivities. We started the week with an all-employee kick-off lunch with party subs and Halloween cupcakes. During the lunch, employees could choose their pumpkin for the pumpkin-carving contest as well. It wasn't until Tuesday that the pumpkin carving officially began. At noon the carving tools were provided in the break room and employees could either carve their pumpkin at work or take it home to work on. All pumpkins that were completed by the end of the day Thursday were eligible for the most creative pumpkin award. Wednesday morning was also the company fall breakfast. Cider, coffee cake, croissants, and fruit were available throughout the morning for all employees. The whole week lead up to Friday, which was the big day for costumes and prizes! A handful of people dressed up, but it was Erica (Marketing) who won the best costume award for her portrayal of Blondie. She received a gift card to Starbucks. Megan (Sales) gave her a run for her money with the giant penguin costume. Check out the Halloween Week Photo Gallery to see all the creative costumes the NATT team came up with! The employee with the most creative pumpkin was also awarded on Friday. All employees could vote for their favorite. Even with so many great pumpkins, the winner by landslide was the 3D pumpkin, carved by Dave (Shipping/Receiving). Dave won a gift card to Target. Congratulations! Check out his pumpkin here . At the end of the day, one last winner was awarded from the raffle drawing. Everyone who carved a pumpkin was eligible for the raffle drawing. Amy (Sales Manager) was the winner and also received a gift card. Congratulations Amy! Halloween week was a great success! Check back here often for more NATT news this winter!
8/27/08 - Summer Picnic On Saturday, August 23rd, the annual NA Trading and Technology summer picnic was held at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park. The afternoon was filled with great food, a couple rousing games of volley-ball, and an exciting two-round wiffle ball homerun derby! Prizes were won throughout the picnic in the raffle and homerun derby. The picnic planning committee consisted of Pete and Megan (Sales) and Erica (Marketing), and they started the day early, arriving at 10am to prepare food and get set-up. By 11:30 most of the employees and their families had arrived and were ready to eat! After a feast of burgers, brats, chicken, salads, chips, and other snacks, the highlight of the day- the wiffle ball homerun derby officially began. The rules were simple. Anyone who wanted to participate could do so in the first round. Each participant was allowed seven swings to hit as many homeruns as they could. If no homeruns were hit in seven swings, that person lost his/her shot in becoming the 2008 wiffle ball homerun derby champion! All those who hit at least one homerun would advance to the second round. To be crowned the champion, you had to score the most homeruns in round two . The two people with the most homeruns in the second round would both receive prizes, but only the top performer would be given the title of CHAMPION! Out of eleven competitors in the first round, six qualified for round two. During the break between rounds one and two, raffle tickets were drawn and some great prizes were given away including gift cards, squirt guns, and toys for the kids. Dave (Accounting), Pete, Brian, Ted, Jason (all Sales), and Ryan (Jason's son) all made the cut to advance to the final wiffle ball competition. In an amazing turn of events, after leading the group with six homeruns in round one, Pete didn't hit a single one in the second round! This really opened the door for everyone else. It was anybody's game! With many people gathering to watch the final batter of the competition, it was Jason, who was currently in first place with two homeruns who decided to pitch. Brian grabbed the bat and quickly hit his way to homerun victory with a total of three homeruns in the second round. It was an exciting end to the derby. Be sure to check out pictures of the winners and all the contestants in the photo gallery ! For coming in second place, Jason recieved a gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods. I'm sure he will use it on more wiffle ball items and accessories! Brian won a black and green "Sports Page" sweatshirt. The Sports Page is a bar that the sales team often visits after work to unwind after a long, hard day. It's a good thing the wiffle ball derby didn't end in a tie, because I don't think we could have come to an agreement on who would get the sweatshirt! Because Pete did hit the most homeruns throughout the entire derby, NA Trading and Technology decided to award him for his efforts. He received a purple and gold (Minnesota Vikings colors) "Sports Page" hat, which he proudly wore for the rest of the picnic. We ended the picnic with two intense sand volley-ball games. The teams were managers versus non-managers, and the younger, more skilled non-managers thought they had it in the bag! The manager team must have had luck on their side, because they ended up winning both games. It was another suprising twist of events. The 2008 summer picnic was a great success, and was full of memorable moments. Click HERE to visit the photo gallery!
6/24/08 - Weekend at Ruttgers Bay Lake Lodge This past weekend four NA Trading and Technology employees traveled up north together for a relaxing weekend at Ruttgers Bay Lake Lodge. It was an all expenses paid weekend for Pete and Amy, who were awarded the trip because of their fantastic sales performance, Dave B., due to his strong role in operations, and Ted, who as general manager, keeps NA Trading and Technology running smoothly. With the exception of Pete, they all left work early on Friday, loaded up their vehicles, and headed out of the twin cities to Brainnerd, Minnesota. Traveling with Ted was his wife Nicole, with Dave was his wife Heidi, and Amy brought her husband Peter. Pete, who had been visiting accounts in Massachusetts the entire week before, arrived at 3am early Saturday morning with his brother Ben. Even with only getting three house of sleep, Pete and Ben were up with everyone else early Saturday morning to start golfing. Golf was an ongoing activity during the trip, and the first annual "Best Ball Tournament" was held among the four teams. Pete and Ben won by default since the other three teams were utilizing some "creative scorekeeping" tricks. However, after it was all said and done, Pete said he thought Dave and Heidi should have won as they were the most talented golfers in the group. The breakfast and dinner buffets were also a huge hit, with lots of friendly banter going back and forth across the table. Ben held the record for most number of trips to the buffet. On Saturday night, Pete, Ben, Ted, and Nicole joined Amy and Peter in their condo for several friendly games of poker, while watching Caddyshack. Pete tried to show his poker expertise by explaining his strategy for smart poker playing, but then played opposite of that strategy and lost the following hand to Ted. A variety of poker games were played including Texas Hold-Em, 5 Card Draw, 7 Card Stud, and 7 Card "No Peek". In the end, it was Ted's wife Nicole who cleaned house and won it all! On Sunday, Peter, Amy, Pete, and Ben made it back out onto the golf course for a few more rounds of golf before heading home. Dave, Heidi, Ted, and Nicole packed up and headed back a little earlier. Overall, the trip was a success and the NA Trading group had a blast! Click HERE to check out pictures from the weekend!
5/15/08 - "NATT Recess" After a very long winter, it's finally warming up here in the twin cities and the NATT sales team is taking full advantage of the nice weather. By mid-morning, I can usually hear talk of what activity the product specialists are planning to fill their break-time with for the day. They generally get so giddy just thinking about it, they're like little kids who have been cooped up in school all morning, and cannot wait for the ringing bell that means they get to go outside and replace reading and writing with swinging and sliding. Yes, now that spring has officially begun, the anticipation for breaks here at NA Trading and Technology is through the roof! After all, who doesn't love recess? A variety of activities including playing catch, wiffle ball, and football are all usually up for debate, but the sales team always finds a way to come to an agreement. Whatever activity they decide on, you can always find them in the parking lot, enthusiastically enjoying the warm weather. "Gyro Thursdays" The one exception to outdoor recess is Thursdays. On Thursdays their appetites prove more important than any parking lot game. By Wednesday afternoon they've forgotten about recess time, and are getting rediculously excited about their regular Thursday lunch routine. Just a few blocks away from NA Trading and Technology, there is a little gyro place that you can always find the NATT sales team on Thursdays at noon. Of course by Friday, the whole crew is right back to their recess-loving selves! Recently, the product specialists revealed their favorite recess activity: Pete "Flava of the Week" Magnuson- His original thought was to go with Gyro Thursday, however since that only occurs once a week, he had to change is vote to wiffle ball. Megan "Scooter" Baker- Playing wiffle ball in high heels Brian "Bri-Guy" Nolt- Definitely wiffle ball Dave "The Enforcer" Molzahn- Gyro Thursday with wiffle ball coming in a close second Ravi "Rav-Dawg" Katkar- Bird watching, and an occasional game of wiffle ball here and there Want more? Click HERE for recess pictures!
3/24/08 - 10th Annual NA Trading & Technology Easter Egg Hunt With fresh snow on the ground, it didn't feel quite like Easter; but the most competitive egg-hunters arrived by 6am and were poking around outside in the snow. In 2008, the NA Trading and Technology Easter Egg Hunt celebrated 10 years of crazy, competitive spirit. Yes, ten years of searching for plastic eggs indoors, outdoors, and literally INSIDE of doors has come and gone, but we’ll always have the memories of the most intense egg-hunt I have ever witnessed. There were over 100 eggs hidden and hiding places have a vast range of difficulty. Outside, eggs were typically found in bushes and high up on tree branches. This year, there were fewer eggs outside than normal, due to the abnormally early Easter and the March snowfall. Inside the building all common areas are fair game, which leaves a lot of places for creative egg-hiding by management. The overall goal is to find the most eggs with your partner. The partnership with the most eggs at the end of the hunt receives a gift certificate to Applebee’s to celebrate their victory together. The majority of eggs contain candy, with a few precious eggs containing money. These “money eggs” range from one penny to a twenty dollar bill. This year, there were three pretty intense egg locations. Not surprisingly, these eggs all contained the big bucks- a five dollar bill in one, a ten dollar bill in another, and a twenty dollar bill in the third. Mike proved to be the most determined and most creative in retrieving the $5 egg. After most had given up on the basement conference room, figuring all the eggs had been found- he discovered a small egg hidden in the wall behind a cabinet. Yes, IN the wall! His first attempt to get the egg involved an extension cord with tape on the end. After this method failed, he and his partner Dave B. discovered they could suck the egg out of the wall using the vacuum. It took them a while, but their vacuum method proved successful and the egg was there's! Sadly, the five dollar bill got lost in the process. No one knows if it accidently got sucked into the vacuum, or if it lost in the wall of NA Trading. We’ll skip over the ten dollar egg for now, as it was actually the last- and the hardest egg to find. The twenty-dollar egg was a difficult find as well, although a mistake by management to clean up their egg-hiding messes, and Deb’s good eye made it a little easier. The twenty dollar egg was also found by Mike and Dave, with some help from Deb (she claimed 40% of the twenty bucks for her services). When most of the eggs had been found, and everyone was impatiently standing in the hallway, wondering where to look for the ten and twenty dollar eggs, Jason bent down, picked something up, and made some comment about how “they” (management) needed to be more careful next time about cleaning up after hiding eggs. Deb proceeded to follow Jason to the garbage where he threw away whatever it was that he picked up on the floor. After careful inspection, Deb discovered it was a piece of a door that appeared to have been drilled out. She promptly told Dave B. (as she was not technically participating in the hunt), and he proceeded to the door nearest to where Jason had picked up the piece and power-drilled his way to victory! To the left we can see Dave M. and Megan had the right idea- but the wrong door. The unstoppable team that showed so much perseverance while looking for the five dollar egg had just nabbed the twenty dollar egg too. The rest of the teams felt like their dreams were shattered…..but, they still had one more egg, and ten more dollars to find before Mike and Dave B. found that one. After some minor searching in other areas of the building, and Mo and Megan (who weren’t even on the same team) nearly taking an entire table apart, the teams learned that the ten dollar egg was also hidden in a door, in the hallway. They all quickly left their previous places of searching and took their drills and screwdrivers back into the hallway. The glass door leading to the sales area was removed immediately by Dave B. and Mike, and everyone worried that their hopes of getting the ten dollar egg would be squashed again by those two. But Mo and Dave M. quickly got involved and aggressively stole the heavy door right from Mike’s hands and began fighting for the egg. Everyone wanted it, and it was a fight like I have never seen before at NA Trading. In the end, Mo emerged as victor, finally standing up from under the door with a tiny hot pink egg in his hand. It was Mo’s first time finding a “money egg” and he and his partner, Erica, who proudly held the door for him while he fought, were ecstatic! In the end, the team with the most eggs was Dave B. and Mike, with a total of 56 eggs. They will be able to talk about, and re-lieve their victory over lunch at Applebee’s together. Mo and Erica came in second with 27 eggs, and Dave M. and Megan came in third with 22. Click HERE to check out the egg-hunt photo gallery!
7/13/07 - Special Research Division Goes Public Greetings true believers. Your dedicated reporter never thought that this would happen, but it has. After all of the secrecy and security, the NA Trading and Technology Special Research Division has gone public, today, on Friday the 13th. It seems a fitting date for the kind of mad scientist experiments they conduct. The SRD web site is live at this moment. They have even posted a video of one of their so-called “research studies” with promises to post more in the future. It is a horrible thing, dear readers. Man reduced to fleeing for his life, all so a company can gain the insight to improve customer service by a fraction of a percent. And where did they get the cougar anyway? But my words are insufficient to describe this. I can only advise you view it with your own eyes: Special Research Division Site. |
